Amanda Gailey is Associate Professor of English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She specializes in digital text editing and nineteenth-century American literature, and regularly teaches classes in both of these areas.
Amanda co-edits Scholarly Editing: The Annual of the Association for Documentary Editing and The Tar Baby and the Tomahawk: Race and Ethnic Images in American Children's Literature, 1880-1939 (under development at childlit.unl.edu). She has also contributed to the Walt Whitman Archive and the Spenser Archive.
Amanda has published on nineteenth-century American literature, text studies, and editorial theory. Her book, Proofs of Genius: Collected Editions from the American Revolution to the Digital Age, will be published by the University of Michigan Press in 2015. Amanda holds a PhD in Nineteenth-Century American Literature and Digital Text Editing from UNL. She worked at the Humanities Digital Workshop at Washington University in St. Louis and taught American literature and digital humanities at the University of Georgia before joining the faculty at the University of Nebraska.
