Haley Butler is the Newspaper Associate for the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities and the Library of Congress National Digital Newspaper Program. Haley produces metadata, handles newspaper microfilm and its digitization, as well as upholds the quality control standards for the NDNP project. Before moving to Lincoln in 2021, she pursued audio journalism as a student at the University of Texas at Austin, creating short-form NPR style pieces that won her a place in the National Hearst Radio Awards. After graduating, Haley worked as a host, producer, and researcher on two long-form documentary true crime podcasts. "The Orange Tree," her debut documentary podcast series telling the story the 2005 murder of 21-year-old Jennifer Cave, landed in the top charts of both Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
