Opportunities for Students
Graduate Research Assistantships
The Center for Digital Research in the Humanities offers a number of graduate research assistantships annually, and assistantships relating to digital humanities research are often available on grant-funded projects. Please send inquiries and a 1-2 page resume with address, email, and phone information to Katherine Walter at kwalter1@unl.edu. Resumes will be kept on file for one year.
Internships
For graduate and undergraduate students interested in internships opportunities in the Center for Digital Research in the Humanities, please contact Katherine Walter at kwalter1@unl.edu. Graduate internships are typically a semester-long commitment, and offer the individual a broad overview of digital scholarship. These can be combined with independent study. Internships are also offered through the Cather Project and other projects in partnership with the Center.
Undergraduate research
Center faculty and faculty fellows have involved UNL undergraduates in research projects through the University's UCARE program. If you are looking for a first-year UCARE project relating to digital humanities, this may be for you. Students have researched Nineteenth-Century literary societies at UNL and around the nation, interviews of Walt Whitman during his lifetime, and models of digital scholarship. First year UCARE students are required to read some scholarly articles or online texts relating to digital humanities, and are given a basic grounding in encoding and imaging. For ideas or connections to faculty willing to work with students on similar research projects, contact Katherine Walter at 472-3939 or kwalter1@unl.edu.
