Second year Master’s student, History
I am interested in the influence of Protestant Christianity on American social, cultural, and intellectual history. My research focuses on Protestant social reform efforts during the late nineteenth-century, specifically upon the Social Gospel movement’s connections to other reform movements of the period. I am currently developing a digital project which explores interactions between Midwestern Populism and Applied Christianity via the person of George H. Gibson, editor of Nebraska’s official Populist newspaper, The Wealth Makers, from 1893 to 1896. In the future, I hope to be accepted to a Ph.D. program so that I may expand upon this project and examine the broader associations between the Social Gospel and other nineteenth century social reform movements.
