We recommend that faculty interested in starting a digital research project contact the Center early in the planning period. Contacts are:

Activities of the Center include:
Project planning: Structuring the project, intellectual property rights, planning for migration or sustainability, and planning issues relating to funding and staffing digital projects.
Technical Assistance: The Center can provide help in encoding metadata, digital resources design, scanning, and stylesheets.
Equipment and Software: Workstations; scanners; a digital camera; and software for optical character recognition, for digital imaging, and for XML authoring are available for approved research projects. Contact Brian Pytlik Zillig (2-4547) or Katherine Walter (2-3939) for information.
Workshops and roundtables: Each semester, workshops are offered on planning digital research projects, introduction to XML, and intermediate XML. Additional workshops can be arranged. The Center offers forums and speakers relating to digital research and the creation of digital content. Information about these events is posted on our online calendar.
Faculty Fellowship funding: From 2004/05 through 2007/08, faculty fellowship competitions for qualified UNL faculty will be held. A call for proposals will be issued annually during these years, and successful applications will receive awards ranging from $5,000 to $15,000. Click here for more information.
Scanning: Within legal copyright guidelines and staffing availability, the Center will scan images or text for digital research projects.
